If you have chosen to emigrate, are you happy or do you regret your decision? What do you miss?

I left UK to emigrate to Canada 19 years ago and don't personally regret it, although I do miss certain familiar things from "back home".  The positives for me out weigh the things I miss, but I still have moments of nostalgia.  How about you?

Seriously considering immigrating to Ireland.  My cousins have gotten their Irish passports. The way the US is going the thought is appealing.

The economic situation in the European Union is not very promising. Living is much more expensive here than in the US. I'd think more than twice if I were you.

My sister was living in Ireland, but she got out and moved back to England.  It took her ages to sell her Irish home due to the economy there.  Best do your research before moving there me thinks...

I've moved to Germany and I'm not very happy here. However, my husband has his small enterprise here, and it's work, and not the love for your country, that pays the bills. I miss everything, my family, my friends, walking down the streets of my hometown, the sea, the climate...everything (sigh)

I usually hide my ethnical background because it's easier to get writing jobs that way. Everybody just assumes that I'm English or American and I do the job well. But, since you've asked, Croatia. Have you heard of it?

Yes, I've heard of it....lol.  I hope for your sake you either learn to love your new country or find a way to travel between the two.

I travel home or to Italy very often, but I'm dreaming of returning home for good. However, I could live in Italy easily. The mentality of the people is similar to ours. My friend moved to Canada a year ago, Edmonton - she likes it.

I am in the middle of moving from Ireland to . . .Southern Italy. Decision was primarily quality of life there.  The economy here is extremely tough tirelesstraveler, having said that if your looking for a nice place to rent give me a shout! lol I personally thrive on challenges and what lies ahead will be many but i do not regret the decision one bit.At the end of the day it is close enough for family and friends to visit which is great and there is no shortage of those waiting for the invite!

Sounds like you followed my sister's thoughts leaving Ireland.  I wish you all the best in Italy as you enter a new phase in life's adventure...

I'm surprised anyone would think that economy in Southern Italy would be better than in Ireland. It's worse than ever in Italy, and south has been doing bad since forever. However, one never knows where luck is to be found, so good luck, Suzie smile

The best move of my life, find for myself and my children a better place to grow up and live in:) I will always be European, but I can carry Europe in my heart wherever I go:) I have visited my homeland with my children regularly throughout their childhood so they know their origin, but they are and they truly feel Australian.
I have figured out, it is better to have two homelands than none:)

Agreed Beata, as a Brit living in Canada, we have always made our kids aware of their family heritage .  We take them back as often as is affordable and they are very passionate about their roots.  They are still pleased to be Canadian though!
